MITIGATION

(About)

I was born in Egbaston, Birmingham in 1960. I have lived all over the UK and also had a brief flirtation with Spain. In the seventies, after having gained an O.N.D. in Business Studies, I began work as an invoice typist/telephonist/receptionist. I then worked my way up the ladder in administration (interspersed with brief dalliances in nursing and store management) before moving to London in the eighties to begin work in the legal sector; first  as an Assistant Accountant and later on as a Practice Manager. Yes, I was once 'something in the city'! As I gained more experience, my love of the law, particularly criminal law, blossomed.

Whilst in London, I met with an old school friend, Michael, who was then an Articled Clerk. We had originally met in a pram, in the 1960s, over a rusk, when I was just six months old. He first proposed to me in a coal bunker when I was four. After nineteen years of blissful separation (and just when he thought that he was rid of me for good) I decided to hold him to his earlier, ill-conceived notice of intent and we married. Serves him right!... He's been serving his sentence ever since.

Having moved a total of seventeen times throughout my life, Mike and I are finally settled in Shropshire. We are fortunate to be the current custodians of a Grade Two listed, cruck barn conversion at the foot of the beautiful Clee Hills. The barn is very much a labour of love; the plumbing is a nightmare. We do not dream of riches, merely of possessing one toilet that flushes properly; a dream as yet unrealised.

We have two children who have both flown the nest and are forging ahead with their own careers. Our son is a Forensic Science graduate and Engineer , whilst our daughter is a Film and TV Production graduate who is working as a Trailer Editor. Michael has gone on to greater things too.

I am one proud Momma Bear!

As a family, we've all always had an obsession with the movies and innovative, hard-hitting TV series. Between the four of us, we possess an unusually eclectic mix of genre favourites. Personally, a great Crime Drama or inspirational Film Bio will always have me reaching for the popcorn... and a paper and pen to take notes.

Cheers, from 'The Judge's Wife!'... Oh, did I not mention that?
